Soba Restaurant in a Field

Don't you want to see the train which runs across this iron bridge?

Hahaha...it's for children, however, it runs not in an amuzement park but in a forest:)
I've never known such a wonderful place to go with children one hour drive from my place. I should have taken my sons... But they are now too grown up to visit here...

We luckily became acquainted with a local person. He introduced us a restaurant which serves tasty ,Soba, Japanese traditional buckwheat noodle.

We drove as his direction. But it was very complicated and we were lost... We tried to find the way from the name of the restaurant on the internet, but it wasn't on it...

When we barely arrived there, all we could find was...

Stretch of buckwheat field!

Wooow, what an awesome place!  But.... where is the restaurant???

We found a sign in the backyard, which said " A restaurant is this way"

The restaurant we had been seeked for was a quaint old house.  The owner told us that their main job was to grow Soba plants in the field. So, they open this restaurant at random basis. How lucky we were!! And they were im pressed to know that we got lost many times before we reached there.

They treated us garden-fresh Soba sprouts for salad, and Soba-gaki, paste of buckwheat flour:)
If you have a chance to visit Japan, why don't you go to this restaurant? You can enjoy the tasty Soba and Japanese traditional old house!

  1. Keity,
I agree, I do love buckwheat in grains. The Russian traditional meal is a porridge of fried buckwheat grains(they're brown after frying). I'd like to taste the buckwheat pasta.
    Have a nice week!

  5. Oh dear Keity, if you were lost I can only imagine what would happen to us. Tokyo was easy for me to find my way around but I think the countryside would be a very different matter. It looks lovely though.

I like the little train, very cute.
