Short Trip to Hokkaido vol.1

I visited Ueno Farm which is well known as a scenic spot in the northernmost island .

YES!!!

I made a short trip to Hokkaido last week:)

The island of Hokkaido is located at the north end of Japan, where you can enjoy magnificent views.

Okay, I want to show you some of them, so, let's climb up the hill !

Living in a metropolitan area, I have no chance to see the shape of the mountains rising up on the horizon

I was treated to other stunning views...

Actually, our main purpose of this trip was to visit home gardens in the huge northern island.
As I expected, we were able to see many wonderful scenes,  which we cannot realize at our small gardens in the metropolitan area. I'll share some of them in the next post!

Short trip to Ko-edo

I visited Kawagoe City which is located about 30 minutes by train from Tokyo.

Kawagoe is so called 'Ko-edo (little edo)'.

This town retains an ambience reminiscent of an old town from the Edo era  (1603-1867).

We can imagine the streets from past centuries. 

The main street is lined with clay-walled warehouse-styled buildings.

This street consists of a lot kind of stores:)

These tiny potteries are called 'Hashi-oki'. We use them with chopsticks, like the following photo.

This street, ' Kashiya-yokocho', is filled with sweets shops.

We took a retro-looking bus and headed to a shrine.

Summer Garden

Hi everyone!

How is the weather in your area?

Today, we have experienced 30-degree heat here in Japan. 

I found a dragonfly in my balcony...

Umm...I think that dragonflies signal the coming of autumn...

You've appeared too early! ahaha...

From July to August, we have extremely hot weather around Tokyo area...

Our balcony  recorded a high of 48.5 degrees Celsius (measured in our centigrade) last year, due to the reflected heat of the sun..

Most of these plants have been living in a harsh environment..

Hope they will survive the heat wave this year, as well.
