Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - June 2016

With the early start to spring, I thought that the flowers might be getting sparser by mid-June, but that hasn't happened. 

Annabelle

Continuing from last month, Veronicas are still filling the garden with pale pink color.

Clematis are now the main flowers instead of roses in my garden.

Living in an apartment, I enjoy gardening in our balcony.

These sedums and polygonums put down their roots into a narrow space between the tiles and bricks paved on the concrete floor.

Polygonum is flowering here, which makes me feel impressed by its vitality:)

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - May 2016

Here we are, half way thorough May!

It's all going too fast.

 I love the month of May!

Everything is so green and beautiful flowers are bursting open every day.

Keeping a lot kinds of plants, I'm considering of color combination, lately...

My favorite color combination is pale pink and white.

Lately, I want to add some strong color,  such as  blue or purple, as an accent...

Umm....

I'm wondering where the strong colored flowers should be added...

I enjoy dreaming the next step:-)

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - April 2016

Spring has come here in Japan. I spend more time at my balcony.

Let's take a look at what's flowering in my garden!

Hellebore

Oh... The number of plants producing flowers seems to be fewer than I expected, ahaha... 

Okay, I marked red circles on the images to identity them easily.

Firstly, show you the western part of my balcony. Three plants are flowering, including the above hellebore.

And this corner below is mainly consist of trailing roses, but they have yet to produce any flowers.

Can see only tulip here,

Tulip "Spring Green"

This Tulip "Spring Green" changes in color from greenish yellow to white, as time goes on.

I like color changing flowers:-)

And let me show you my favorite area:) I put the hellebore in an iron birdcage, it is full in bloom now.

I built some shelves on the wall, and put a few pots.

Glechoma Variegata

Viburnum plicatum f. plicatum

This Viburnum flower will also changes in color from greenish yellow to white  as the tulip above:-)

Lastly, I would like to show you this corner at the other end of my garden.

Vinca Major

Maybe you cannot notice this viola in the image above. This is flowering just at the foot of Vinca Major. 

Viola "Labradorica"

This viola is a native plant here in Japan, so you can see them growing wild along roadside here and there.
I don't remember planting this, so, a bird delivered its seeds here, I guess:-)

  

Apple Mint

This Reeves Spirea  has many　tiny pink buds which are about to unfold.   This is different species from the original ones. As you can see, the leaves have white spots on them.

These buds will burst into white flowers tomorrow, I guess:-)

Hellebore

Basically I love the color combination of white and purple, so have been trying to collect plants producing flowers in these two colors.

By the way, do you have any flowers which change the colors as time proceeds?

Garden Broggers' Bloom Day - October 2013

Hi everyone,

We'd been having hot days, like 30 degrees here in Japan last week. But autumn has surely come to my balcony. How is your garden?

 

Let's take a look at what's flowering in my balcony.

Can enjoy autumn roses.

The combination of Clematis and Roses is my favorite scene!

And today, the scene which I want to show you is bellow.

It maybe a seemingly common shot. You might think it just as a shot of some weeds. But creating such a scene in a balcony, which means on a CONCRETE FLOOR, required enormous efforts.

First of all, I put bricks on a concrete floor and put some Pink-head knotweed pots between them. But they didn't grow at all as I intended to... So, I had to give up growing them last year.

But about six months later, the knotweed has appeard through the bricks! I was so excited!!!

 

       I put large pots at each side of the brick path, and planted Austrarian Rosemary,

       Ivy Vine, Carex, and so on, trying to cover pots with their own leaves.

 

In addition, I decided to put a brick on which  some letters were carved. So I pasted mortar on it and engraved a word, "GARDEN."

 OH MY GOOOD!  Seemed to have made a spelling mistake!

Garden Broggers' Bloom Day - September 2013

Although it is September, we have still humid weather... I can't stay in a room without the airconditioner during the day time... How about it in your area?

I'm happy to linking up to Garden Broggers' Bloom Day! Let's get to see what's flowering in my balcony.

 

I think that Jasmine produces flowers only in spring, but it has some these days:)

 

 

Clematis, "Mary Rose" has a few flowers, too. It's the second flowering season this year.

White Zinnia has been in full bloom! Zinnia has a lot kind of color. Which color do you like? I love the white one the best.

 Hylotelephium sieboldii is producing flowers, too. I planted in a rusty tin and bind it on an wire basket.
Recently, planting succulents or tiny flowers in a tin is getting popular among Japanese gardener:) Land price is high in Japan. Especially around Tokyo, many people can't have a garden with soil, so we are making efforts to display plants' pots effectively even on a cement ground.
