Yokohama is well known for being a charming harbor town just an hour outside of central Tokyo. And it's also a 20-minute train ride from my house.
About 10 days ago, I visited Minato Mirai district in Yokohama City with my friend and her family.
The above photo was taken from the Yokohama Marine Tower. Unfortunately, it was a little bit foggy but we could enjoy the 360° panorama view from its observation deck.
In front of the Marin Tower, you can enjoy many flowers and plants...
with a ship in the background at Yamashita Park.
Then let's move to the next destination, Red Brick Warehouse on a ferry boat, called Sea Bus!
Oh, I've forgotten to introduce my friend...
Guess who I went along with?
You probably know her...:)
YES!
She is Sigrid from Willdommen im Hassberg-Garten
She and her son traveled 12 hours on a plane from Germany, to see her husband living in Japan for work. And she gave me a chance to meet her in Yokohama:)
Sigrid is a wonderful person as I expected:) Walking around the Yamashita Park, she taught me many plants' names. She is a respected gardener!
We also talked about raising children, and I was surprised to hear that the university tuition is free in Germany. What a nice country! In case of Japan, university fee is around $9000 /EUR7500 a year.
My son was also excited to sing along with her son at Karaoke:)
It was such a wonderful experience to meet her and her family.
Thank you, Sigrid!
