Visit to a Country Garden, B. Blue Gray

 

 

Hi everyone!

 

We are having spring long holidays, called Golden Week in Japan. Most of schools and companies are closed until May 6th. I've been busy with work recently, so I decided to go out to refresh every single holiday:) 

 

I went to a Country Garden, called B.Blue Gray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

As I'd been wanting to vist here,  I was so excited:)

 

先日B.Blue Grayに行ってきました。

ここは以前からずーっと行ってみたかった場所♪

 

 

 

 

At the entrance, we were welcomed by Exochorda Racemosa fully in bloom.

入口では満開の利休梅が出迎えてくれました〜♪

The pathway made of wood crossties led us to a small hut.Trees with green shoots along the pathway created the illusion of being in a forest:)

枕木を敷き詰めた小道が奥の小屋へと続いていて…
森の中に彷徨いこんだよう…(*^_^*)

 

Yellow roses were in bloom at the window.

 

小屋の入り口には薔薇が咲いていましたよ！

 

 

 

I prefer these kind of wild natural garden as if I were in a thicketf.

雑木林の中にいるようなナチュラルな雰囲気のお庭、すごく好き❤

And you can enjoy not only garden but iron works in a hut.

 そして小屋の中ではアイアン作家さんの作品を楽しむこともできます〜

 

This work maybe designed to look like a rose... Love it:)

 

この作品は薔薇がモチーフなのかしらん。

素敵だな〜(*^_^*)

DIY with My Sons

I built a small wooden storage with my sons. As I woke them up early in the morning for this, they were complaining at first.
Loot at my older son with a bed hair!!

先日息子たちと一緒に大工仕事をしました。　
この2人。。。
休日の朝8時からこんなことやらされてかなりご機嫌ナナメ。。。
見よ！長男の寝癖を！！(笑)

Their holiday mornings always begin with playing games... watching TV... reading comics...
So, I persuaded them. "Now that you finished entrance exams of college and highschool, you should help me out! "

彼らの休日の朝はいつもゲームから始まり…いや、テレビから…いやマンガから…ま、このうちのどれかだけど(^^;)
とにかく「受験も終わったんだから、ちっとは体動かせ〜!」と無理やり…(笑)

This is what we made at the entrance porch!

玄関ポーチにこんなんできました〜♪

In fact, this storage is double as a cover of the compressor unit.

この物置、室外機カバーも兼ねてるんです。

 

 

In addition,  we also made a small wooden wall.

 

ついでに簡易腰壁も作って〜

 

 

 

Displayed some green pots.

 

板壁周りにグリーンも飾ってみました。

 

I was excited to display there, and didn't realize  my sons were gone.They had already started playing games inside.

ルン♪ルン♪　しながら飾り付けを終えてみると、息子たちの姿はすでになく。。。
部屋でゲームに興じているのでした。
ま、ここまで手伝ってくれたからしょうがないか(^^;)
息子たちと初めてのDIY。アタシは楽しかったけど。。。彼らは。。。わかんない。。。(＾＾;)

It was the first time to do such things with my sons. It was fun "TO ME."  But I'm not sure "TO THEM."

Earlier this month, I attended their entrance ceremonies of university and high school, respectively.
I sometimes went through a tough time living with both sons getting nervous with the exams. But after the ceremonies, my sisteres and niece in-law  threw a party for rewarding my effort.(NOT their efforts. haha...)

It was a night full of fun!! And I felt happy to have such a nice family:)

今月初旬に息子2人の大学・高校の入学式を無事終えました。
思い起こせば昨年はいろいろあったけど(←特に次男！) こうして無事志望校に入学してくれて感無量。
式を終えた数日後、義理の姉・妹・姪が私の労をねぎらって、お疲れ様女子会を開いてくれました〜
こんなに素敵な人たちと家族で居られる幸せを改めてかみしめた夜でした。

Garden Bloggers' Foliage Day - April 2013

When I posted GBBD last week, Christina invited me to "Garden Bloggers' Foliage Day" at her blog.
She explained, "The aim is similar to show what foliage is enhancing the garden on the 22th of each month or you can highlight a particular plant." I was excited to hear that, 'cause I prefer foliage rather than flowers.
But I'm not sure whether I could convey the attractions of them. I think the photos of leaves tend to be conservative in colors and shapes...

前回GBBDの記事を書いたら、イタリアのクリスティーナが
「 Garden Bloggers' Foliage Day にも参加してみない?」って声をかけてくれました。
Foliageっていうのは葉っぱのこと。
毎月22日に自分の庭でイチオシの葉っぱを紹介するっていうイベントなのだ。

最近は花より葉っぱが気になるから楽しみ(*^_^*)
どの葉っぱにフォーカスしようかな〜♪
でも葉っぱの写真って地味だし、どこまでその魅力を伝えられるか不安だけど。。。

とりあえず第一回GBFDいってみよー♪


Anyway, here are my first edition of GBFD!

 

Melaleuca bracteata 'Red Gem'

The red ear tips are lovely:) Althouth two years have passed since I planted it in my garden, I've never seen its flowers. They say it produces white brush-shaped flowers.

赤い穂先が可愛いメラウカ☆
ウチに来て2年経つけど未だお花をつけたことがありません。
白いブラシ状のお花が咲くらしいけど。。。

 

My foliage collections are being displayed in this area!

 

 

And Christina recommended that you might remember sometimes to turn your images into tones of grey to help you understand the forms and texture that your plants are creating.

 

この一画はシブい葉っぱコレクション・コーナー(笑)

 

クリスティーナが 

「時々写真をモノクロに加工して、植物の形や質感の全体的なバランスを確かめるといいわよ」 

って教えてくれたの。

 

なるほど〜、面白そ♪

ってことで早速やってみた。

 

 

Sounds good attempt!  I tried here:)

 

 

Hmm... I think the Carex which has sharp-lined leaves has become an accent. But some large  leaves like Rodgersia podophylla would be a good addition here. What do you think of it?

 

And what's remarkable among those plants is...

 

 

 

カレックスのシャープな葉っぱがここではアクセントになってくれてると思う。　でも、矢車草みたいなちょっと大き目の葉っぱを足すといいような気がするんだけど、どうかな…(＾＾;)

 

そしてここで注目したいのは…

Love its color gradient!

 

もちろんメギ！！　葉色のグラデーションがたまらない〜(≧▽≦)

 

 

 

 

In addition,  my favorite sprout at this time of year is Rosa Glauca, a rose which has beautiful grayish leaves.

It's challenging to convey its delicate color with my  photograph skill,  the grayish leaves appear to be a little bit more slight purple tinge to the naked eye.

でもやっぱりこの時期のNO.1はグラウカでしょ〜〜

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - April 2013

 

 

 

I decided to  join the Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, held by Carol at May Dreams Gardens

 

Actually, Helen introduced me to this monthly event.

She saied,

"Basically, you just take photos of all the plants in your garden in flower on the 15th of every month, or maybe the day before if you want to post on the 15th, that’s what I usually do. It makes a great record to look back on for later, I have been doing it since January 2012 and can now compare what was flowering in my garden last year with this year."

It sounds like fun to me!

 

 

インディアナポリスのキャロルが毎月主催しているGarden Bloggers' Bloom Day というイベントに参加してみることに(^_^)

ロンドンのヘレンが教えてくれたんだけど、なんだか面白そう♪

ルールは簡単。

毎月15日に自分の庭に咲いている花をupするだけ。ヘレンは去年の1月からやってるんだけど、

「いつ何が咲いたか」という記録を残せてとても役に立っているとのこと。

 

ってことで第1回GBBDいってみよー♪

Apple Mint

 

 

This is the first time to get a shot of Apple Mint by DSLR.　Thanks to the good lense,  I found the new charms in its flowers.

Hellebores

 

I have four pots of Hellebores, but two of them didn't produce flowers this year...

 

クリローは4鉢あるけど今年は2つしか咲かなかった。。。

 They are beyond their peak, though. 

 

ユキヤナギは盛りを過ぎちゃったけどね(^^;)

 

 

Biola "Labradorica"

 

Love not only its lovely flowers but heart shaped leaves:)

 

ラブラドリカはお花の可愛らしさもさることながら、❤型の葉っぱも可愛い〜

 

 

Tiarella wherryi  

 

 

 

I don't know the name of...sorry...

 

'Cause this plant grew up at the edge of a pot when I bought some other plant.

I thought it as a weed at that time but it produced lovely flowers:)

It's one of the Japanese traditional plants, I guess.

 

この山野草、何かを買ったに時に鉢の端っこにで生えてたおまけ。。。

名前、なんだっけー?

 

Puschkinia

 

As I planted it later than I did as usual, it flowers at last:)

 

今年は植える時期が遅かったプシキニア。やっと咲いてくれたよ〜♪

 

Vinca Major

 It seems that Vinca's flower season is relatively long. We can enjoy it few more days:)

ツルニチニチソウは花期が長いみたいで、まだ数日楽しめそう(*^_^*)

 

 Snowball

 

Snowball started producing flowers. I like those lime green colored flowers. When its flowers die, Annabel, my favorite hydrangea which has same colored flowers as Snowball willl stard producing flowers. 

 

このスノーボールが枯れるとアナベルが咲き始めるの。

ライム色の花は大スキだから、これからが楽しみな季節♪

 

Japanese traditional  violet

 

My friend, Yuu,  gave it to me last year. When I was handed it over at that time, it had no flowers. But she said, " You must like this flower which is white and tiny." Since then, I've been looking forward to seeing its flower, and finally I did! YES, I love it!!! The size of it is much smaller than I expected, about 1cm or so.  She knew I love those kind of little flowers.

 

These are all about flowering in my garden as of now. Even in early spring, I noticed that there are not many plants.  But I have to say that they would be  appropriate in my narrow balcony:)

どんなお花が咲くのか1年間心待ちにしてたけど、こんなに可愛いお花が咲くなんて…(*´艸`)

今ウチの庭に咲いているお花はこれで終わり。

。。。って、少なっっ！

でも、ウチの狭いベランダにはこの位でちょうどいいのかもね(^^;)

また来月もupできるようにお庭の手入れもがんばろーっと。

 

Rue-anemone

Spring has finally come.

What kind of flowers are blooming in your garden?

Today, I want to show you this tiny little flowers:)

Tiny ball shaped buds are getting bigger and prducing lovely flowers.

 

Love its petals, beautiful color gradations from pink to white:)

Even after blossoms fall, diandrous left is like a little firework.


金久さんでみーちゃんにプレゼントしてもらった「台湾バイカカラマツ」が
今年もキレイに咲いてくれた♪

こうしてこの花を眺めてると、「みーちゃんのおとんは元気かな〜」とか…
いろんなエピソードを思い出させてくれる。

やっぱりガーデニングは独りでやっててもつまんない。。。
仲間が居るって楽しいね♪

Trip to Kobe

 

We left Kyoto and moved on to Kobe. (about an hour by train from Kyoto) 

 

What comes to your mind when you think of Kobe?

 

 

The old foreign residences, called Kitano Ijinkan?  Yes, they are open to the public as museums. 

What else...?

やっぱり神戸に行ったら異人館は見なくちゃね。
キチさんとみーちゃんに連れてってもらえてよかった〜
よーこちゃんだってこんなに素敵な桜と異人館のコラボが見れてよかったでしょ(*^-^)b

Of course, the night view! 

When Yoko and I arrived at the Kobe, we joined Hide and Mii who are residents in Osaka-Kobe areas. And Hide drove us to the night view spot. I was fascinated with the beautiful night view of Kobe!

 

In fact, we became friends through our common interest in GARDENING.

So, Hide and Mii took us to a special garden, called Takarazuka Garden Fields.

 

でも神戸の夜景まで観ることができるとは思ってなかったの。
だからこの景色にはめっちゃ感動！！！
カップルのお邪魔虫してたなんて。。。(^^;)
てか、カップルなんてどこにいたん???

The contrast between the flowering cherry and the lime green hellebores was quite attractive.

桜とクリローのコラボは忘れられない景色だったわ〜

This British style garden is divided into 12-themed sections surrounding a pond. The designer of this garden is Paul Smither, a British gardener.  

 

ポール・スミザーさんの造るお庭って初めてみたけど、このナチュラル感がたまらない(≧▽≦)
みーちゃんも言ってたけど、人の手が入っていないみたい。

I've never seen such Japanese quinces climbing a stonewall!

The main part of the garden is decorated with a variety of perennial plants creating an natural garden as if they are native wild plants.

それぞれの植物の特性を見極めた植栽ならではなんだろうなぁ…

  

Love those fritillaria! The lime green colored flowers always fascinate me:)

よく見るとシレネとカタクリのコラボとか、自然界にはあり得ないような組み合わせの植栽もあるのに、
なぜか違和感がない。。。
ん〜、、、さすがだわ　(*´Д｀)=з

Oriental paper bush!  Ball-shaped flowers are lovely, aren't they?

Unfortunately, the garden is to be closed this December... We want it to be preserved...

But it was great to be able to go there before closing.

We had a good trip with my close friends!

It is  always fun to share our thoughts based on our mutual interest, gardening:-)  

閉園しちゃうなんて残念だけど、その前に行くことができてホントによかった〜

 

 

I'll definitely come back here, again!

Spring in Kyoto

 

Question!

 

What is the sharpest blade in the world?

 

The answer is Japanese sword!

 

Aritsugu, which is now well known for very sharp knives, was founded in 1560 by Aritsugu Fujiwara, Japanese sword craftsman.

 

 

You can get unique knives such as for raw fish or for fruits, which suits your palm size.

 

In addition, they provide the service to inscribe any letters you like on its blade for free.

 

 

We got the one as a present for our friend who are going to open a cafe in May. So we had it inscribed the name of it, "Rustica"

If you have an oppotunity to travel Kyoto, why don't you drop by and get your favorite knife with your name on it:)  You can inscribe it either in English or in Japanese:)


Oh, I've almost forgot to explain that I had a short trip to Kyoto with my friend, Yoko.

先日よーこちゃんと京都ぶらり旅に出かけてきました〜

This Kinkakuji, a famous temple located in northern Kyoto, is registered on the World Heritage List

金閣寺に金箔が眩しくて〜♪

Look at the stage of Kiyomizu Temple!  It's 13 meters high!!

清水寺では人混みにめげず…

From its stage, you can enjoy the scenery in cherry blossoms:-)

満開の桜景色を楽しんできました〜♪

Strolling the old city, Kyoto...

京都の古い町並みをそぞろ歩くとね…

You might run into Maiko. ( apprentice Geisha are called Maiko)

舞妓さんにばったり〜♪

 

And we finally could see a famous weeping cherry tree in Maruyama Park. It was overwelming!
Next day, we moved on to a port town, Kobe:-)

円山公園の枝垂れ桜は圧巻だったね！！

よーこちゃんとみーちゃんに読んで欲しくて、途中から久しぶりに日本語入れたけど…
(キチさんは英語でもOKだもんね！)
