Garden Decoration

It has been busy with visiting many gardens this spring.

Today, I would like to focus on garden decorations that I noticed:)

Lovely couple statue surrounded by white roses:)

Love these stone pillar or stone arch with plants. 

This olive tree has a gentle face:)

To my surprise, these stone gate and walls with wooden doors above are all handmade with mortar and Styrofoam in this garden.

Bamboo Temple in Kamakura

Kamakura is a small city, about 50 kilometers south of Tokyo. Its historic temples make it a popular tourist destination, especially as a day trip from Tokyo.

I'll share two of the famous spots.

 Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine

This shrine was established about 1000 years ago, and is located in the center of the city.

After the Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine, We visted another temple that is famous for its bamboo forest.

Houkokuji Temple

If you have a chance to visit Tokyo, why don't you drop by Kamakura? It takes only about 1-hour train-ride from Tokyo:)

Visit to the Open Garden in My Neigborhood

In my neighborhood, Open Garden Event is held during this rose season.

Let me share my favorite garden which is full of beautiful flowers:)

To my surprise, this is an individual garden, not a theme park!

The owner said that this white shed was originally displayed in a gardening show, and taken over after the event.

An handmade ceramic work was displayed there.

Around the shed, clematis were in bloom:)

This house is located next to a small hill.

Very relaxing space:)

SAKURA-Cherry Blossom

The season of cherry blossoms has come:)

I visited some famous spots in Tokyo last week.

Firstly, let me share some photos of Chidorigafuchi.

This is located in the northwest of the Imperial Palace,

The 700 m-long pedestrian path was covered with the blossoms of about 260 cherry trees of different species.

Despite the fact that we visited on Monday, the waiting time of the boat was two hours.  We gave up riding a boat and headed to the next destination, Shinjuku Gyoen.

Here is also a representative spot for cherry blossom viewing in Tokyo.

We had to wait for 15 minutes to enter the gate...

Shinjuku Gyoen is a huge park, but was crowded with lots of people...

In Japan, you can enjoy cherry blossoms anywhere.

It is common that they are planted as street trees, like this.

I took a walk along the river of my neighborhood in the evening.

The cherry blossoms glow with the setting sun:)

There were few people in this park .

I could get this beautiful view all to myself:)

Walk with a Blog Friend in a Field of Rapeseed

Visited Mother Farm which is famous for this field of rapeseed.

In Japan, we experienced very cold winter this year, so, I wanted to feel coming of spring!

With whom did I visit here?

YES! Sigrid from Willdommen im Hassberg-Garten

               

We enjoyed seeing goats, cows...

and pig race!:)

We hired my son as a driver, hahaha...:)

We enjoyed a superb view from this farm located on a hill:)

Oh, let me explain how to get to this farm from Tokyo.

Look at the Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, floating on the Tokyo Bay!

To reach this Boso Peninsula in Chiba prefecture, we used a highway called Tokyo Aqua Line.

You can enjoy this ocean view from a parking lot floating on the bay.

Firstly, this highway took us straight to the entrance of the Aqua Line Tunnel. 

And when we reached daylight again at the end of the tunnel, we drove onto a small artificial island, a parking lot, called Umihotaru (which translates as "Sea Firefly").

This huge object is a cutter face of one of the slurry shield machine used to drill the undersea tunnel for this highway.

Ahead of here, we drove on this long bridge to go to the Chiba area.

After the Mother Farm, we visited Mt. Nokogiri, famous for this cliff, "Gigoku-Nozoki (Hell View)".

I'm happy to be able to get to know Sigrid through this blog! 

We both love flowers and plants, so, we could have a great time:)

She said it was freezing cold this winter in Germany.

We often have abnormal weather in Japan, as well...
